Shanghai Club and Union Building – No.2 Bund

Posted: April 6th, 2010 | 1 Comment »

The old Shanghai Club and Union Building (you all know the club’s story – resolutely British, longest bar in the world etc) is getting a ‘makeover’ – a fearsome word in Shanghai – i.e. the inside is getting gutted. Anyway, here’s what it looks like now with the workmen inside and below what it looked like shortly after it opened.

Hello. I am researching serious clubs of Shanghai 1910-1930.

I am trying to locate and/or identify the Union Club of Shanghai.

I have found two references to this club in literature of the 1920s but I can find no other sources. Was this club known by another name perhaps?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Regards
