Singapore’s Oldest Buildings
Posted: August 24th, 2010 | No Comments »I haven’t got down to Singapore for a while but last time I was there I did go down to Geylong and take some pictures of some older buildings there, some of which had art-deco and modernist lines (for those who know Geylong and what it is famous for – I was looking at the buildings, honest!). I’ll try and dig those out. Singapore perhaps sticks in many people’s minds for not being that great at preservation and it’s certainly true that a lot went (particularly shop houses) before the government and the tourism people woke up – since then quite a lot of preservation has happened I think for what’s left. But I’m no expert on Singapore – far from it. Anyway, mucking around I did find this interesting piece from Time Out Singapore from last year on the Island state’s oldest buildings.
