Dvir Bar-Gal has been knocking around Shanghai for years doing great work on the history of the old Jewish ghetto and the preservation of old Jewish gravestones (see here). He’s also an excellent photography as these examples of his work show and he is launching a new collection of his work this weekend in Shanghai.

Dvir Bar-Gal’s Photography album FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE was published earlier this month.

Join us to celebrate the Book’s Launch, on Saturday November 27th, 4pm-7pm at  Hong Merchant Gallery.

Dvir Bar-Gal is an Israeli TV Journalist and Photojournalist residing, working in Shanghai since 2001. During this time, he has captured in pictures various aspects of the city and its transformations.

Bar-Gal’s FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE visualizes the first decade of the 21st century in Shanghai spiced with some of  the ironies and paradoxes offered by this  unique city.
