Just for a Change…A Few Old Postcards of Singapore

Posted: March 16th, 2011 | 2 Comments »

A few postcards of Singapore I came across recently…

The basic layout of Boat Quay hasn’t really changed…anyone who’s sat in the bars and restaurants here will recognise it

But Collyer Quay has…rather a lot…

Clifford Pier remains but is a bit tricky to get to now I’ve found in the past although I hear the area is being redeveloped now – not sure what that means for the preservation of the pier.

indeed clifford pier still remains, preserved though no longer in use. today it houses a trendy upmarket shanghainese restaurant, one on the bund. while I’m not sure how the food is, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit (drinks, perhaps) if only just to check out the arched roof truss of the old pier.
