The Fox Tower – A Different View

Posted: August 19th, 2012 | No Comments »

As many of you will know the old Fox Tower (now the rather uninspiring and un-romantically named Dong Bian Men, or the East Convenience Gate, on the Second Ring Road) that features prominently in my book Midnight in Peking I thought I’d post this lovely photograph sent to me by News Assistant, Writer and China Researcher Cecily Huang in Beijing who clearly has a great career in photography should she so wish. It’s great as the angle is different to any I’ve seen before – she managed to get the shot from a slow moving taxi and managed to capture it wonderfully.

For those wanting more pictures and some history of the old Fox Tower there’s an essay by the Beijing historian Michael Aldrich on my Midnight in Peking website you can read (click here)
