2010 Pyongyang Mass Games Photos

Posted: April 9th, 2010 | 4 Comments »

Despite rumours of Kim Jong-il’s poor health still doing the rounds and the dreadfully botched currency reforms Pyongyang still found the time and cash to put on its annual Mass Games with 100,000 or so gymnasts. To be honest the show doesn’t change much from year to year but it is still an amazing spectacle anyway you look at it (sick waste of money; unified ranks of determined DPRKers etc etc). This year the German photographer Werner Kranwetvogel went down and took some stunning photographs of the Mass Games which you can see here. They are so good I won’t belittle them by sticking one of my crappy instant snaps from previous years here!

if you have one I’ll post it – but didn’t want to just steal one of your site! They’re great photos and mine, taken from previous years mass games on a crappy little digital would have just looked all the poorer in comparison!!
