USSR Embassy Compound Lane – Peking

Wandering around Peking’s old Legation Quarter the other day I noticed this oldish sign on the wall of a small lane towards the western end of the street on the north side I hadn’t seen before. A rather strange and slightly amateurish restoration attempt but nice to find all the same rising up from under some cementing – USSR Embassy Compound Lane.

    I also came across this on a bitterly cold day back in March. The whole compound is in very bad condition. Is it being restored?
